New York State is home to 57 small city school districts.

Small city school districts educate nearly a quarter of a million students—that’s two-thirds of all urban students outside New York City and twice as many as the Big Four districts combined.
While the cities themselves may be “small,” their districts are anything but. On average, they are more than twice the size of typical school districts and collectively represent 1.5 million residents across New York State.
When every small city district stands together, our voice is impossible to ignore. Together, we shape policy, secure critical resources, and ensure that small city schools are recognized for what they truly are: a powerful, united force in New York education.
